What is Impla ™.

Impla™ is created from PLA (polylactic acid), but what exactly does that mean?

PLA is a non-toxic, sustainable alternative to petroleum-derived products. It is made from renewable, biobased plants with a lower carbon footprint than competing materials. Originally formed from plants such as corn, beets, and sugarcane, PLA pellets and fibers are a natural, biodegradable alternative that can be recycled again and again. These can be created into carbon-neutral benefits such as compost, renewable energy, aerobic digestion, and feedstock recovery.

What is PLA

In its base form, PLA is produced in the form of small, spherical pellets that are about 3 millimeters in diameter.

PLA pellets are extruded and turned into PLA fiber yarns for fabrics and textiles.
Natural   Through a delicate manufacturing process that is both environmentally friendly and ethical for the workers, PLA pellets are spun into yarn.
All natural PLA pellets are turned into PLA yarn.
65% less energy and generates 68% fewer greenhouse gases vs. similar production from petroleum.

Most down alternatives are made from petroleum byproduct. Because of this, PLA offers a significantly reduced carbon footprint versus traditional oil-based plastics, keeping the planet cleaner for future generations.
